Brasilia

The Embraer Emb-120ER Brasilia is the first of its kind in the South African skies and can seat 30 passengers in a 1+2 configuration. Manufactured in Brazil, the Brasilia previously flew with America’s Continental Airlines before moving to its new home in Africa.

The Brasilia’s cabin is exceptionally quiet even during take-off, climbs with a full complement of passengers and comfortably cruises at high speeds above most weather. It has a galley to cater for the passenger’s every need and an airliner size toilet. The large cargo-door can handle all but the most awkward of baggage.

This aircraft can reach Maputo in under and hour, cruising at 23 000 ft at a speed in excess of 300 knots. The seats are also some of the most comfortable you’ll come across, and offer the option of reclining your seat back for those longer trips. The stand-up cabin allows even taller passengers to stretch their legs during flights, but this is not necessary given the ample legroom in the Brasilia.

The Metro III has impressive performance, even in the Highveld’s hot and high conditions. Seating 19 passengers in a 1+1 configuration or 18 with the option of a toilet, the Metro can also be configured in a combi-configuration for mixed passenger and cargo loads or full cargo configuration with all passenger seats removed.

Cargo is loaded through a large cargo door at the rear of the cabin. This flexibility is invaluable for charter operations! Charlan’s Metro III’s currently operate the bi-weekly Tanzanian service and their passengers have nothing but praise for the operation and the aircraft.
